think about it.

why is it
that sometimes,
many times,
often ...
people try to
restrict you?

don't want to
see you
do well
or be happy.

they like to keep you
in a little bitty box,
nice
and
tidy
and
square.

so,
they can always
know exactly
what THEY THINK
you are.

think about it.

rocky rock

tumble tumble
rocky rock
i popped the top
i just had to
STOP
but i couldn't
i wouldn't

it rose me
and drove me
to eat
until
i couldn't
and i
shouldn't
anymore

but it ran and
stood
where we gathered
and we would
if we could
because we want
to
and need
to
but we can't
or we won't

but it stayed
and
played
in our hearts
every
single day

it warms us
and loves
us
it saves us
and heals
us

i dream
you dream
so we should
and we could
if we
want to
and
need to

we have to.

grounded we rise

we are one
in two bodies.
grounded, we rise
intertwined with
the divine.
we stay low,
bound by
trifles, hollows,
and holes.
a rat in a race,
we believe we
have somewhere
to go.
but we are whole,
separate from
that
we float, we fly
in a race
to take
stance
on higher ground.

lil' humble house

i wanna lil'
humble house
soft, quaint
bursting with life
movement
ideas ~
of course
tiny moments
of blessings.
a garden
a breeze
a little sunshine
laughter
travel
creating
my own
playing
simple
bright eyed and
bushy tailed.
unpretentious
all the way.

sweet sparrow

in it, i am.
dust settled
and ashes spread.
over my head,
deep
i am.
sitting, sinking
rafting in the corners
of time.
polished, locked up
trinkets
sit of thine.

merciful, allowing
time.
sorrow, sweet sparrow
yours no more
i sit for you,
waiting.
come clean.
do the rest
within me.

for shadows linger,
i see
into thine
heart, soft now
for purpose
rewind.
mellow and cool
remember,
your mine.

we are both

he is both,
i am both,
we are both
walking down
and stepping
over
that white line
and
we feel it
in our spine,
the longing
to find
the other side
of the road,
calls to us
day in and
day out.
visions silently
tip toe about
taunting
teasing
trickery in pleasing
it calls to us,
day in and
day out.

a caged bird sings

freedom?  freedom? FREEDOM
a caged bird sings
longs for open air
wispy breeze, take me away
today
tomorrow,
pass the sorrow
to someone else
to wrestle
thoughts of freedom
despising the bars
of cages, wages
cannot proclaim
my life's importance
innocence taken,
mistaken into adulthood
i would,
i could,
but should i
conform
and grow up
for the life
of politics,
judgement,
restrictions
of the process,
tired of this
raw mess.

our rights

politics, rolling rocks,
pop tarts,
cheese in a tube
brings glue
all glue,
sticky, sticky
mess
trapped, wrapped
packaged appealing,
wheeling,
dealing out
rights of freedom
in a dollar bill
'til we cannot
spill anymore
juice of our riches
switches flipped
counteracted
as attraction,
a need
a want
a deed,
a taunt
the way of life
given at cost
the way of strife...
i choose life.

create lines

peace arises
through slips
and smudges
of paint,
create lines
create space
and the taste
of air,
of long breath
inhales through
my skin
remembering
when
a second
passed by.

reading books

out of the side
of your eye,
you think
you know
what resides
within.
the body posture,
sense of clothes,
reading one
from head to toe.
you've pinpointed
the line
my feet
have crossed,
singled me out
in one minute
lost.
you've judged
the book
by it's cover,
losing the chance
to know,
what's inside
to discover.

when i close my eyes

spirit swells
amongst unknown
visions.
people
i don't know,
places i've never seen.
circumstances
i can't follow
slow me
show me
feed me.
juice and berries all day.
ripened.
ready.

anselm kiefer "remains of the sun"

this wall
is overwhelming
as i sit here
on this white bench,
kids laughter
in the background
makes me happy.

as i look up
again
at this wall,
this giant canvas,
i am enamored
i am obliged.

my eyes can see
such a thing,
a picture
a sight
uncrossed before me.

a brick,
a fuzzy brick form
of a building
it does resemble -
the texture
the subtleties
grab me
keeps me
pulls me.

the layers astound,
thick and thicker,
built up
a few diagonal lines
pierce through
to the middle
and there,
two bones hang.

the church
this morning
was awakening...
of people, of patterns, of life,
of a vapor.

i felt the need
to be there,
to awaken,
to bring to life.

it was so still,
all were silent
(and seemed to me)
non-motivated.

i felt the urge
to stand up
dance in the aisles
and sing
and rejoice.

we have life
and
we truly are blessed.
we are rich.

no,
the people
just sat there
and
were quiet.
